Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

, ,

Multiple Sclerosis Treatment in Atlanta GAMultiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease in which the nerves of the brain and spinal cord are damaged by one’s own immune system. The damage to the brain and spinal cord results in a loss of muscle control, balance, vision, and sensation such as numbness. The nerves that make up the central nervous system act as the body’s messenger system. A fatty substance called myelin insulates the nerves and covers each nerve. This fatty substance helps in the transmission of nerve impulses, or messages, between the brain and other parts of the body. It is these “messages” that control muscle movements such as walking and talking. At Sovereign Rehabilitation, we offer rehabilitation programs that focus on treating the numbness or weakness in the limbs, balance issues, fatigue, and muscle spasms associated with MS.
