Unfortunately though, that long-loved tradition is also the cause of tons of hand and wrist-related injuries each year. In fact, Thanksgiving sits near the top of the list of dangerous holidays thanks to hazards like these.

Avoiding Halloween Hazards

Unfortunately though, bulky costumes and pumpkin carving catastrophes make it a little more hazardous than you might think.

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, in 2013, finger and hand injuries accounted for over 17 percent of Halloween wounds – most of which, 30.3 percent, were suffered by kids aged 10-14. Breaks and fractures sustained from falls and ill-fitting Halloween costumes are another big culprit of Halloween disasters.

But pregnancy isn’t always smooth sailing. It comes with a specific set of aches and pains that can take a serious toll on your body. Some of the most common aches associated with expecting a new little bundle are back pain and sciatica. These are often caused by your newly shifting center of gravity, and they can weaken your abs, interfere with good posture, and put painful strain on back muscles. These types of pain also make a pregnant woman more susceptible to injury, sending you to the bed or couch for hours at a time.
