Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
April 15, 2015
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome is a nerve compression syndrome caused by increased pressure on a nerve in the arm, elbow, or hand. While this syndrome is not as well known as carpal tunnel syndrome, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome can also cause numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, and severe pain in the hands and arms. Sovereign Rehabilitation is pleased to offer expert treatment for those suffering from this condition. We offer a variety of hand therapy services as well as comprehensive physical and rehabilitation therapy provided by a talented group of physical therapists, occupational therapists and certified hand therapists.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome is typically caused by a person doing something repeatedly for a significant period of time that puts an increased amount of pressure on the ulnar nerve. Repeatedly leaning on the elbow or bending the elbow for sustained periods of time, will contribute to this pressure. The first symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome are pain or numbness in the elbow and a tingling sensation in the ring and little fingers. Symptoms can worsen when not addressed and cause weakness in the ring and little fingers, decreased hand grip, muscle wasting in the hand, and a deformity of the hand that makes it resemble a claw. At Sovereign Rehabilitation, our therapists are experts in treating and preventing symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. We use a variety of therapeutic procedures to help patients return to work and daily activities.
