The hip is a ball and socket joint that attaches the pelvis to the femur. This is one of the largest joints in the entire body, and pain associated with this joint can have negative effects on the body as a whole. There are many causes of hip pain – some causes can arise from the joint itself, while others can be associated with the structures surrounding the joint. At Sovereign Rehabilitation, our professional therapists are dedicated to finding the cause of the joint pain in order to successfully treat each patient and help him or her find long lasting relief.
Depending on the cause of the hip pain, hip injury rehabilitation is performed by our licensed physical and manual therapists on an individualized basis. Our hip injury treatments may include aquatic therapy that is beneficial when bearing weight on the joint is the primary source of pain. Manual therapy, dry needling, joint mobilization and/or manipulation, and more are provided to patients as will best serve their needs. Our individual rehabilitation programs are designed to strengthen the muscles, ligaments, and tendons that surround the hip joint. Injury to any one of these components can cause hip pain. Therefore, it is necessary to treat every aspect of the joint in order to fully recover from injury and pain. Hip pain is often nonspecific, meaning that the direct cause must be identified for appropriate treatment.
