It tends to begin before puberty but can also begin in adulthood, and can cause sufferers to lean more to one side and limp due to subsequent leg/hip misalignment. As scoliosis progresses, it can also cause painful pinched nerves, muscle spasms, herniated discs, even difficulty breathing.
