Orthopedics Therapy
Sovereign RehabilitationSovereign Rehabilitation's physical therapists provide orthopedic physical therapy to diagnose and treat soft-tissue and joint injuries throughout the human body.

Typical orthopedic conditions we treat are:

  • Spine disorders (including neck and low back pain)
  • Headaches
  • Hip / knee conditions
  • Foot / ankle injuries
  • Shoulder disorders
  • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) pain
  • Bell’s Palsy
Therapeutic procedures can include:
Sovereign Rehabilitation
Joint mobilization and/or manipulation
Passive movement of a joint or soft tissue at varying speeds and amplitudes, including a low-amplitude, high-velocity therapeutic movement.

Muscle energy techniques

Voluntary contraction of patient muscle against a counterforce applied by the operator

Neuromuscular reeducation
The reestablishment of normal muscle activation, or recruitment around a dysfunctional joint

Electrophysiological agents

These include ice, heat, and electrotherapy (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and iontophoresis), directed to promote healing when indicated

At Sovereign Rehabilitation the practice of physical therapy is defined by the integration of examination, history, analysis and restoration of movement dysfunction, where the electrophysiological agents are merely used as an adjunct to treatment.
Sports Rehabilitation
Sovereign Rehabilitation's sports medicine Physical Therapists focus on injury prevention and rehabilitation for amateur, professional, and recreational athletes.

Recovery can take several weeks from common injuries like sprains, strains and overuse to several months for serious injuries, such as ACL, rotator cuff, and labral tears. Sovereign Rehabilitation

Our Phisical therapists help athletes return to competition sooner and at a higher level.

Treatment Phases:

The Acute Phase
Sovereign Rehabilitation's  sports-medicine-based physical therapist will use modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, cryotherapy, and pneumatic compression to help control swelling and inflammation, and to promote a healing environment.

The Settled Phase
During this phase, the emphasis will be on gaining full range of motion, and building strength around the affected joint(s), as well as increasing core stability.

The Return-To-Sport Phase
Sport-specific exercises and neuromuscular reeducation are designed to build speed, power, and balance. Plyometrics and throwing programs are just two examples of activities that may be used.

Some sports for which SR provides rehabilitation / performance enhancement include:

Golf
Tennis
Soccer
Baseball
Football
Basketball

Our all-inclusive approach incorporates preventive care, rehabilitation timelines, and exercise guidelines. Sovereign Rehabilitation maintains timely communication with all referring physicians.

Above all, we educate athletes, parents, and coaches about preventive care and rehabilitation timelines. Coordinating the efforts of everyone involved in an athlete’s care enhances recovery and reduces the risk of future injuries.
What is a certified manual therapist?

To qualify for a manual therapist certification (MTC), a physical therapist must complete post-graduate training and practical examinations administered by an accredited institution. Due to the increased understanding of pathoanatomy, joint biomechanics, and their relationships to musculoskeletal dysfunctions, the certified clinician is able to make precise interventions, in order to make proper recommendations for treatment and exercise prescription. Certified clinicians have reported an increase in treatment efficiency, and a decrease in the number of patient visits, due to accurate assessment and appropriate intervention.

SR is privileged to have a number of MTCs on our staff.
