Physical therapy, like most other types of therapy, can be done one-on-one with just you and your therapist or as a group. There are many times when group physical therapy might be beneficial. But sometimes it is best to work individually with a therapist that is trained and experienced in the type of physical therapy you need.
Choose a Specially Trained Physical Therapist
A physical therapist who has experience working with those who are recovering from a stroke may not be the best one for someone who is having back pain. Most therapists choose to work with a specific type of disability or injury, so they can learn more about it, train in the best physical therapy treatments and give their patients the best possible care. When you choose an individualized physical therapy plan, you work with a therapist who can help you the most.
Address Your Specific Needs
As you work through your individualized program, your needs will change. You may become stronger in some areas, and then the focus will shift to others. When you work with just one physical therapist, they can help you transition through the various stages of your therapy to address the problems that are the most troublesome.
Work One-on-One with Your Therapist
Any physical therapy gym is a busy place. There are a lot of therapists, and often, many more patients. When working on an individualized plan, you will be able to work with your therapist one-on-one whenever you come in. If you are having trouble with an exercise, an exercise has become too easy or you’ve been struggling with a physical task at home, you can address these concerns with the same physical therapist every time you come in.
If you are still unsure if an individualized physical therapy treatment plan is right for you, make an appointment to meet with one of our trained therapists at Sovereign Rehab. Once we get to know more about you and your needs, we can recommend the therapy program that would work best for you.
