Preventing Golfer’s Elbow With An Active Warm-up

Category: Rehabilitation Services, Sport Injuries

Atlanta GA Sports RehabilitationHow’s your golf game this summer? What’s your goal for improving your score or handicap? Perhaps Golfer’s Elbow is preventing you from any golf improvements for the summer? If you’re experiencing Golfer’s Elbow, Sovereign Rehabilitation is proud to be your trusted source for expert Golfer’s Elbow treatment and rehabilitation in Atlanta.

Golfer’s Elbow causes you to experience pain and inflammation in the tendons that connect your forearm to your elbow. Overusing your muscles in your forearm that allow you to grip, rotate your arm and flex your wrist typically causes it. This motion can cause you to experience pulls or small tears in those tendons.

To prevent golfing injuries, choose an active warm-up doing dynamic arm stretches. These stretches require gentle bouncing or swimming movements that force your elbow, shoulder and wrist joints past their typical range of motion. They are good warm-up exercises for golf, and other sports that require repetitive arm movements.

  • Arm circles for approximately one minute. Be sure to move circles forward and then backward as well.
  • Scissor cross your arms in front of you for approximately one minute.
  • Begin your golf game by raising your muscle temperature. By doing this, you are making them more elastic. When you begin golfing, with no prior warm-up in your muscles, it is like taking a rubber band out of the freezer and trying to bend it immediately.

At Sovereign Rehabilitation we want to make your life feel better, and we also want to help your golf game improve! Contact our office today to see how we can get you back on the golf course as quickly and as safely as possible.
