Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women. It outnumbers the number of cancers of all forms combined. For this reason, the American Heart Association sets aside the first Friday in every February for its Go Red For Women day. The purpose of this day is to help women fight back against and unite to fight against this number 1 killer of women. Saturday, September 29th is Family Health and Fitness Day in the United States. This day is observed annually on the last Saturday in September. This day was established in 1996 and is designed to promote family involvement in physical activity in support of one of the goals of the U.S. Surgeon General’s Report on physical activity and health.
