December is a great time for festive feasts. At Sovereign Rehabilitation, we wish all of our patients a very merry holiday season. If you’re planning your feasts to celebrate this season, you should consider incorporating foods and treats that will help you along in your physical therapy process as well. So set your table with beautiful holiday décor and your most special china, but be sure to serve options that will boost your physical therapy process as well.
Place proteins on your festive table! Lean proteins come from a variety of sources including meat, beans, nut butters and more. We suggest eating your lean meats such as white turkey first during your feast.
Accent your plate with some high-glycemic whole food carbohydrates. Indulge in foods such as rice, potatoes and whole wheat breads.
Foods rich in Omega-3s will beautify your feast and boost your health. Typically people think of fish and other non-holiday related food items. Try incorporating seasonal walnuts into your holiday feast, they are rich in Omega-3 and feel very festive at the same time.
Avoid serving foods that increase inflammations such as foods high in saturated fats, trans fats, and drinks and foods that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates.
Sovereign Rehabilitation would like to wish all of our patients a season of joy and health during this celebratory month of December. “We make life feel better.” Come in and see the difference we make with all of your physical rehabilitation needs.
