As you plan your Thanksgiving feast, there are items you should consider adding to your menu to help your rheumatoid arthritis. Did you know that your diet does affect your condition? However, because rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory type of condition, it’s important to avoid foods that will worsen inflammation. Research is also finding that bacteria in your gut play a role in the development and progression of RA.

Why not try this recipe for Turmeric Roasted Potatoes with Green Beans?


  • 4 larger red potatoes cut into chunks
  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed and halved
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¾ tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. turmeric
  • ¼ tsp. cumin
  • ¼ tsp. cup shredded Pecorino Romano or Parmesan Cheese


Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with silpat mat or parchment paper. Combine all the spices in a small bowl. Toss the potatoes with a couple teaspoons of oil and then sprinkle generously with about 2/3 of the spices. Toss with your hands to make sure they are very well coated. Add about half of the cheese and toss well to distribute. Spread the potatoes across the prepared baking sheet and roast for 45 minutes. (Set timer for 25 minutes)

While the potatoes are roasting, prepare the green beans. Toss them with a tablespoon of oil and then sprinkle generously with the remaining spices. Add remaining cheese and toss. After the potatoes have roasted for 25 minutes, remove from the oven and add the green beans. And spread across a baking sheet.

Return to the oven for an additional 20-25 minutes. Enjoy!
