Is The Water Calling Your Name This Summer?

man swimming in the poolIf we were to search for you during the summer, where would we typically find you? Most Atlanta residents search for water to keep cool during these hot summer days. Did you know that the average temperature for July in Atlanta is in the low 90s accompanied by a lot of humidity? Sometimes water is the only answer to the summertime “Hotlanta” days.

Is a swimming pool your choice of cooling off? How about Lake Lanier? Have you visited Tybee Island lately? Perhaps the water is calling your name for other unfortunate reasons this summer. If you’ve experienced an injury, have a medical condition, are post-operative, have Rheumatologic disease, neurological impairment and more, you may be eligible for aquatic therapy.

Aquatic therapy is unique in that the water is what creates the therapeutic treatment. Water offers many qualities that help our patients achieve results in a safe and effective way. It reduces the impact on your musculoskeletal system by utilizing the natural buoyancy that water provides. This buoyancy lessens gravitational pull and reduces compressive forces. It can also be helpful for patients who are recovering from surgery and particularly elderly patients. It also can be performed even if you don’t know how to swim!

If you’re interested in receiving aquatic treatment, contact Sovereign Rehabilitation, and we will evaluate if this treatment is right for you based on your condition and needs for rehabilitation. Sovereign Rehabilitation offers aquatic therapy and rehabilitation at our Decatur, Dunwoody and Lawrenceville locations. Our therapists are trained to specifically provide you with the aquatic therapy to help you recover from a variety of medical conditions.
