Women's Health Services Atlanta GALymphedema is a result that often occurs in women who have had damage to or removal of lymph nodes as a part of cancer treatment. While most cases find that the swelling only occurs in one of the arms or legs, it can occur in both limbs. There is no known cure for lymphedema, but with diligent care it can be managed. Pelvic Pain Treatment in Atlanta GAChronic pelvic pain is a condition that affects many women each year. The pain is generally spread throughout the entire pelvic region rather than found in a specific spot. Chronic pelvic pain resides in the area below the belly button and between the hips, and it lasts longer than six months. While there are cases when chronic pelvic pain can be a symptom of another disease, chronic pelvic pain can be a condition in its own right and needs to be treated properly to find relief. Many women may never receive a specific diagnosis that explains their pain, but that does not mean that the condition is not treatable. At Sovereign Rehabilitation our licensed physical therapists work to find a treatment that focuses on managing the pain so that patients can return to their active lifestyles.

Atlanta Physical Therapy for Pregnant WomenBack pain is a common occurrence for women during pregnancy. In fact, more than half of all pregnant women suffer from back pain at some point throughout their nine months. As a woman’s belly grows throughout pregnancy, the lower back curves more than usual to accommodate the weight out in front. This curving results in strained muscles and back pain. As the uterus continues to grow, it shifts the center of gravity forward as pregnancy progresses and puts even more pressure on the lower back. Hormones also play a role in back pain during pregnancy. A hormone called relaxin causes the ligaments to stretch and joints to loosen to prepare the body for child birth, but this can also lead to back pain because there is more weight and less support on the spine.
